Our answer to <\/strong>COVID-19 <\/strong><\/h1>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our holistic approach promotes resilient systems, local leaders and resilience. In this way it helps village communities to respond to challenges – even those such as the current one. To counter the effects of the pandemic, we have mobilized more than 500,000 trained volunteers <\/a>and leaders in 13 countries. Through these networks, we worked with our local partners to ensure that village communities had the information and tools they needed to mitigate the impact of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Since March 2020, we have successfully implemented various measures in several regions:<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 In Africa, we have installed more than 6,500 “Tippy Taps”<\/strong> – touchless handwashing stations – accompanied by extensive education campaigns.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 In Mexico, we translated and shared an education campaign for indigenous people in seven languages<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 In India, we provided 8,000 local counselors with information about local COVID-19 aid programs, which they shared with their more than 500,000 people (including via WhatsApp).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 In Africa, we took steps to improve local food storage and increase crop yields.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Globally, we<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 reached more than 3.6 million people<\/strong> with our Covid-19 education campaigns, providing information on infection risks and distance and hygiene rules.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 distributed more than 200,000 food rations<\/strong> to community members in need.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u2022 produced and distributed over 278,000 cloth masks<\/strong> in village communities; \u201csewing armies\u201d have been formed in some areas<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n
